WRITE A LETTER TO YOURSELF

I've built a community on this blog through the written word. On here, it's always me typing away but now I'm hoping we can reverse the roles a bit.

As part of my coursework for University, I'm asking people to do some reflecting. I'd love it if you could help me out. I often reflect on this blog about personal aspects of my life, like my parent's love story, my first kiss and my virginity. Opening up to you all is a part of my healing and mending process. I think there's a lot of value in making ourselves vulnerable and sharing our common human experiences. I've learnt that we're never as alone as we feel, but we need people to be vocal about what they're going through to help others.

With that in mind, I'd love it if you could write a letter to yourself.  It could be a letter to a past self, your present self or a future version of you that you've yet to meet. The topic is for you to choose from. You can write and reflect on a moment of your life, a full day or a longer period. The choice is yours. You can write about love, loss, promises or heartbreak, family, pets, eating disorders etc. The choice is all yours.

Things to keep in mind:
  • No word limit. Send through a post-it-not, a paragraph or an essay.
  • Must be hand-written. Feel free to personalise the paper. If you want to doodle around the text or add iconography that relates to the content you're welcome to.
  • Please scan or take photo of it and send it to socialspying@gmail.com by December 1
  • It should be completely anonymous. Just include your age and what city you were in when you wrote it.
I'd really, really appreciate the help. If you think it's something your friends would like to get involved in too, I'd really value their contributions. When my project is done, I will share the end result with you all.

I'm really hoping you'll take the time to help me out! It would mean the world, the sun and the stars to me.

Till next time-
Steph

  1. I would love to help you out :) my life is insanely busy right now but I've actually been meaning to write a letter to myself for some time. I have a lot I'd want to say to her. If I don't get too overwhelmed this week, I'll try and send you one

  2. Totally haven't just procrastinated from studying to write a letter ^_^ But you know what, I've realised how little I reflect on myself, I'm always looking so much into the future that I forget how far I've come. I hope your coursework goes well, I'll share this with my friends and see if anyone wants to help out x
