Are We REALLY Single?

I know I've missed the Valentine's boat but hear me out:

You're not in a relationship? Great! Neither am I... but, does that make us single? If I asked any of my friends this question, chances are they would think I'm mad and then answer with a simple and confused "yes?" Well, folks, I'm here to tell you that they'd be wrong.
The word single is always associated with being (or not being) in a relationship BUT, here's my theory:

This evening, I went to watch 'How to Be Single'...and with my mom which was not one of my brightest ideas, but that's beside the point. At the end of the movie, the protagonist Alice states, on the top of the Grand Canyon whilst music asynchronously plays in the background whilst over-looking day-break that we're not really alone. We're never really single.

This really struck me- not the day break of the Grand Canyon- although that was beautiful. What struck me was the "we're never really single part" and I've never really thought about it, but it's very true.

Whether it's a pet, a parent or a pesky sibling;we're never completely one separate entity. We can never truly be 'single'. We're always in some kind of a relationship; the relationship between you and any abiotic object doesn't count.

So, folks, from today, I declare you NOT SINGLE!

Till next time-
A newly, un-single, Steph
