First Date

In my previous blog post I said my aim of this year was to take chances. 365 of them to be exact. We're not even ten days into the New Year and I'm already on chance two.
Last night I went on my first date-ever, with Wedding Wonder. The clean-slate I was aiming to end 2015 off  lead to us meeting up.

After thinking up EVERY possible scenario and getting countless pep-talks from my girls, me and my clammy hands went off to meet Wedding Wonder. We met at a corner restaurant of a place that is like a town within a town. The place was done up with Christmas lights that hadn't been taken down yet, and the sky was splashed in tones of orange and yellow as the sun set signifying the end of another day. Although the sun was setting, for me it was like a new beginning.

I'm what one would call a 'senior' in high school and a late-bloomer, and this folks was my first 'date'. Many at this point in their lives have had countless 'tongue-touching' experience and a copious number of dates. I've had neither. I've watched EVERY possible Rom-Com out there (and I don's use the term 'every' lightly either) and now, it was my time to go out there, to live my real-life Rom-Com.

The date with Wedding Wonder turned out to be...well... okay but ironically, not wonderful. Maybe this is the Rom Coms talking, but there was no spark. Are you supposed to feel a spark after a first date? Am I over-thinking this? What was your first date like?

To any girls reading this: The first date isn't actually that bad. I found I was nervous at the start and then as the night progressed, things got easier. Just enjoy it. If you find that you didn't click, well then maybe the person who said you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince (or princess) might have had a point and plus, if it goes REALLY badly and provided you don't live in a small town, you'll never have to see your 'disaster date' again.

If you're a late-bloomer, like me, and haven't done all the things your peers have done- whether it be on the sporting front, in the dating domain or academically, it's okay. It bothered me for a long time too. Then I remembered that there are others like me out there and I shouldn't be in a hurry to grow up.

I stuck to my word of taking chances though.

Till next time-
Steph
